It is finally game week for the Sooners! First up for the 2020 season is the Missouri State Bears. This game was originally scheduled to take place last Saturday, on September 5th. It was then moved a week earlier to August 29th, then finally rescheduled for this Saturday, September 12th. Whew. All this of course, was due to COVID. While other conferences have cancelled or postponed their entire seasons, the Big XII, among others, have rescheduled member games to just include 9 conference opponents, plus one non-conference game. OU’s non-conference slate was pretty exciting this year pre-COVID, with Tennessee coming…

Even though it happened like 8 months ago, in what is sure to be breaking news for most of us, Bobby Petrino (yes) is apparently Missouri State’s head coach (I know, right?). Tulsa World’s Eric Bailey indirectly brought this news to our attention while reporting on the Petrino’s preparations for Missouri State’s season opener against the Sooners. https://twitter.com/EricBaileyTW/status/1301233590303367171 Evidently, something happened over the past 9 months that took our attention away from this January 15th hire. https://twitter.com/MissouriStBears/status/1217448625602621441 At the time, it was reported that Missouri State had narrowed down the hiring options to Petrino and former Baylor coach Art Briles.…
Every OU season of late seems to have a lot of similarities: a Heisman trophy finalist / winner, a Big XII championship ring, and a College Football Playoff, um, appearance. These are all undoubtably very good things, but one other consistency that OU fans would rather not have is the inevitable PPV game. OU Missouri State PPV Details A minor problem to be sure, considering the list of otherworldly things the Sooners have been accomplishing on the field, but still one that fans would rather not see. In this COVID-shortened season where no games are guaranteed of actually happening, there…

It is worth a read: July 8, 2020 Dear OU Community: While the COVID-19 pandemic has brought seemingly endless disruptions to all of us, our international students have experienced disproportionate challenges as a result of the crisis. The latest…
